I will find it so gratifying if, despite all of Putin's obvious attempts to manage appearances and bolster his international image through repression and intimidation of political dissidents, the simple, rampant corruption behind the games provides irrefutable evidence of what's wrong in Russia.
I'm sure most of those billions are nicely fattening some overseas accounts of well-connected Russians.

What was a country with no remaining sports infrastructure for its children doing offering to spend twelve billion dollars to host foreign athletes? The official budget has since grown to over $50 billion, more than the combined cost of every previous Winter Games combined, according to a Dutch newspaper. It would be a surprise if more than 25% of those billions did more than pass through Sochi on their way from the Russian treasury to Swiss bank accounts and the London real estate market.

Per athlete, Sochi costs more than all Olympics this century combined (http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_25084774/per-athlete-sochi-costs-more-all-olympics-this#ixzz2smFfa8EH)
Great. They spent a lot of money and things aren't perfect. News at 11. I really don't recall people flipping their shit when the army had to be called in to help with security at the London games because the private security firm couldn't get enough security agents to the city. Absolutely! It's a shovel ready job to 1) install a defective door; 2) remove broken defective door; 3) install new door. That's three jobs for the price of one!
Obviously, spending loads of money on the sports arenas and related accommodations falls into the same class as updating neglected infrastructure. It's either all exemplary of government corruption, or all exemplary of stimulating economic activity.
A concern troll is a false flag pseudonym created by a user whose actual point of view is opposed to the one that the user claims to hold. The concern troll posts in Web forums devoted to its declared point of view and attempts to sway the group's actions or opinions while claiming to share their goals, but with professed "concerns". The goal is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt within the group.[36]
Doesn't change the fact that if the majority of liberals were shrugging off Putin's corruption as unimportant that I know EXACTLY how you'd respond...and it wouldn't be how you are responding now.
Using a term incorrectly versus having a reputation for consistently demonstrating a total lack of integrity. I'll take my error.
