They do have a problem that they are not selective enough with who we give membership, optomism sometimes could use a little pragmatic balancing. Perhaps waiting until countries are able to recognize legitimate rulers, then we should allow them a vote? Otherwise perhaps we should hold off on that a bit. A government that is illigitimate isn't exactly going to be better just because they go international. Besides, regional oligarchies tend to undermine any democratic tendancies that exist in their countries. :)
