Image would have been better, imo, if he hadn't drawn in the sticks of dynamite. Scott did have a gun. The kid did not have a bomb, and the device he built did not have a bunch of cylindrical red objects in it.
A black man was shot in Charlotte a few days ago. The initial story, and the story that prompted the protests/riots, were that he didn't have a gun but instead had a book.
Making this an open carry situation misses the point. We know he had the gun holstered on his leg (I believe), it's when you draw it and start pointing it at police that things go poorly.
Did the cop know whether he was legally allowed to have a gun? Lots of people are, ya know. Saying he did have a gun isn't good enough. I am so sick of hearing about people being shot by the police, it is fucked up. It makes the cops seem like skittish cowards who need to be a little less trigger happy.
Whether you're legally allowed to have a gun isn't relevant to this specific case. Legally having a gun doesn't mean you can start threatening people with it.
The image doesn't work, but I assume you mean Cliven Bundy. In that situation, if the officers felt threatened, yes. But there was no threat there the way there was with this guy.
I guess the artist must shit his pants every time he sees a digital clock. *shrug* I am glad I don't live in his world, where everything must be out to get me. That would be exhausting.
lol so red state folk now think owning a gun makes you a threat/criminal that deserves to be murdered by the police (i know they only think that when the gun owner is a black guy)
and considering the clock actually was a clock........ i'm guessing the book wasn't actually a gun.....
That's one of the most glaring double-standards, I agree: If the cops see a white guy with a gun, it's time for a conversation, but if it's a black guy, it's immediately a criminal situation, with police ready to fire if the guy twitches.
