In basic, you learn very quickly that people can't be trusted to BATHE, much less wash in the right order.

Well, I don't remember anybody memorable from basic, but in Iraq a lot of people would use the empty 1.5L bottles our drinking water came in for pee bottles, as they didn't want to walk out to the portapotties in the middle of the night. Most people tossed the refilled bottles, but one guy was found with a large stash of them below his bunk.

Also in Iraq, a dead mouse was reportedly found in the junk on top of another guy's bed, before he was transferred to my unit and became my roommate. He just always stank, and his new bed in our room also gathered a new layer of junk, like so:

I later saw him after being moved to El Paso, and he had somehow gotten promoted in that time.

Even after basic the bad hygiene continues. :/ Had to take a fellow female to the shower with another NCO, and make sure she showered properly, and put on clean clothes afterwards...
