If that is a real post, then that guy just made it easier for people to file Title VII claims against his company for failure to hire (presuming this is American).
internet tracking seems to show he isn't a hiring manager, and never has been - he runs a business from home. Unfortunately, the backlash against him has descended on two businesses that have never heard of the arsehole.
Good thing he runs a business from home since he can't survive in the real world with a silly hang up like name pronunciation. I worked with a Tanesha for years (white girl) and no one ever seemed to have an issue saying her name. Now I work with a lady from Latvia and people pronounce her name wrong all the time even though it is only 4 letters long. She doesn't seem to care though.
that would explain how he's able to decide on behalf of all his employees that there is a problem with "tribal names" - I kind of guessed he hadn't bothered asking any of them, but now I know he did
Hell, Jerry Springer guests aside, the biggest offenders of special & unique names are all the damn white women I know who think they need to give their kids bizarre spelling variations on names. Then there's just dumb names, like the facebook high school friend who just named her kid Maverick.
Ugh, yes. My cousin wanted to name her son James after the half dozen or so other James (Jameses? James's? Meh.) in the family, but otoh, she wanted the name to be unique. She settled on spelling it 'Jaymz'.
I like to think that his descendents moved westward, and eventually his great-great-great-great-great-great-(something)-granddaughter lived happily on a farm with her husband until circumstances in the wake of her husband's death (and her son's illness) necessitated the transportation of her home to a safe location by a colony of experimentally augmented rats she befriended.
I work in a call center supporting corporate staff. I deal with some of those 'tribal' names that this guy seems to have a problem with.
If I cannot figure it out, I ask ' How do you spell that?' followed quickly by 'I want to make sure I spell it properly for the ticket.' and so far, only one or two have been snotty about it. Most understand or appreciate that I am trying to make sure I do not slaughter their names.
I have also screwed up some stupid ass spellings of 'Amy' as well, how was I to know you spell it Aymee? Silly me.
I can think of only one instance where the OP jerk has a point. A new student was enrolled in grade school, a girl named "L-a." Before the kid arrived for the first day, everyone was debating how to pronounce her name. "Ll (pause) ah, maybe?"
Her mother got irritated when they tried that on her. "It's 'Ladasha.' The dash ain't silent!"
why was her mother with her in grade school on her first day?
besides, its a fucking myth already. I wish people would stop retelling it as if they were there. La-a sightings are now more common than Elvis.
If "La-a" had been in all the classrooms and hospitals people have claimed (especially seeing as this goes back to 2007) she'd be pretty damned rich to have moved around so much. Funnily enough, if you put "La-a" into facebook search? you get nothing. If you put "ladasha" you get three racist joke pages and one fake strip-page and
A BUNCH of white women who are claiming "Ladasha" as their nickname.
But still no actual people using "la-a" on the most popular social media site on the internet. Yuh huh.
