1) The funny thing is, based on the cancer-like spread of those "Obama Is a Seektrit Mawzlem Anti-Christ" chain e-mails, Parsley's endorsement may very well just hand-deliver the presidency to McCain--because of, rather than in spite of his rhetoric.

2) That cartoon?
Is fucking awesome.

... except when he was writing (or dictating, him being illiterate and all) the stuff he would later repudiate as satanic verses...

But we don't want to go into them too much or there'll be fatwahs all over the place again.

"#1 muhammed recieved his guidence from the angel Gabriel not demonic spirits"

Thank you for clarifying the facts for us. It's important that these debates stick to the facts lest we start fighting over conjecture and fantasy.

One correction, though. The problem is that Muhammed only THOUGHT he was receiving his guidance from Gabriel. So, Rev. Parsley is partially correct. But Parsley is also wrong. While it wasn't Gabriel, it certainly was not demonic spirits, either. You see, it turns out that Muhammed lived in a poorly constructed apartment building and directly upstairs from him lived Fatass al Qwifi, an ancestor of Frank Calliendo, who's comedy act included doing impressions of the angel Gabriel in various farcical situations (most of which were used as the basis for episodes of Frasier and Three's Company). So this is all just a big misunderstanding. Maybe when all of this killing and maiming and hating is over, we'll all have a big global hug and be able to laugh about it.

Speaking of laughing, the other day I heard the most absurd thing regarding Muhammed and his spiritual guides. This guy actually thought that perhaps Muhammed did not get his messages from some a supernatural spiritual being, but instead he said he thinks Muhammed simply made the shit up all by himself and just TOLD others that he heard it from an angel...and then a bunch of people believed him! I just laughed in that guy's face. I mean, have you ever heard of anything so implausible? C'mon, it's much easier to believe that an angel came to him. I mean, that's really the only way for us to get the truth from God, right?

I understand. In fact, I should say "thanks" since I never knew that about Muhammed and the origins of Islam. But I can't help but offer a little sarcasm when I see people like Rev. Parsley claim that their God is the real God and someone else's God is not, so they must be evil... I mean, it's unknowable by definition. I have no respect for people who spread hate and distrust based on something they really can't know.

"...spending eternity with no friends and your clothes on fire." ??? Holy shit! I've been wrong all this time and now I'm in deep trouble. I was really counting on my friends being there with me.
