What If MoveOn.org Existed 65 Years Ago?

WW2/Iraq comparisons of course have all manner of caveats attached, but I still thought this was rather amusing:

Yeah, cause Iraq and WWII are exactly the same thing. Do you realize how naive you sound?

To be specific...

When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, we declared war on Japan, and Germany in turn declared war on us. Ergo, Germany was the enemy -- no question about it. We've never known an actual declared war, so we have no idea -- we just think the prez sends in troops when he feels like it.

Some of the comments in that RedState thread are hilarious, especially the one with the helpful tidbit that "Only the fact that Germany invaded the Soviet Union caused [liberals] to support US involvement in the European Front in WWII."

A point that could be taken here, is that we should try a bit harder to examine the facts from more than one angle. There's merit in the OP even if it isn't 'true' is is useful.

Ike said we better watch out for the military industrial complex. Boy was he right. Fuck the right wing.

Just a way for the Left to dismiss what he had to say without confronting what he had to say. Standard political move.
