WW2/Iraq comparisons of course have all manner of caveats attached, but I still thought this was rather amusing:

Arguments used to ignore the report and prove you wrong:

"You see where I'm going with this. Given Petraeus' rhetorical track record - and his apparent willingness, back in 2004, to inject himself into the middle of a domestic partisan campaign - why should we have confidence that in September he'll say anything that would deviate from the White House line?"

"Unfortunately, based on behavior in his last command in Iraq and the manner in which he received his current position, Petraeus is not a reliable source for an unbiased assessment."

"Patreaus has allowed himself to be used as a “political prop” to support the White House’s war czar nominee."

Yup...the Left didn't want to listen and they still are not.

"An unidentified source said X, therefor all liberals must believe X? Is that what you're saying?

Saying that someone isn't likely to give an honest report does not necessarily mean that you are going to ignore their actual statements and dismiss what they say offhand. If you would actually listen to the left, you'd hear arguments against what Petraeus said."

Your good at the dismissive argument too I see.

Question: How often do you listen to 96.9 Talk? How often do you read The Gaurdian?

Sources:

I believe that you and certainly the very capable people working with both of you, were dealt a very hard hand. And it's a hand that is unlikely to improve, in my view. - HILLARY CLINTON (She is refusing to see the surge is working because in her view she can't see it working)

It's time to turn the corner in my view, gentlemen. We should stop the surge and start bringing our troops home. - JOSEPH BIDEN (Cut and run is the only solution)

There are more, but these are the Democrat Leaders and so speak for the democrats.

Irrelevant back at you. I was pointing out that you were using a strawman to try and win the debate or discussion. Good try, but please stop, its not working.

A) No shit, I found some more for you. These are from the leaders of the democrats instead of news articles quotes.

B) They do show how they have reached their conclusions with considering Petraeus. You just want to ignore it.

C) It is a straw man because I listen to the politicians of the left so I know what they are saying, thus the quotes.

D) If you can find Democrat leaders who admit the Petraeus is telling the truth, yes I would have to admit that they are hearing the truths, but then still acting against them.

A) Cool. Sorry for swearing.

B) The quotes show that they are unwilling to listen to anything but what they want to hear. Remember, what someone sees/interprets becomes reality. If I interpret their quotes this way there are more who do as well.

C) Yes, the left does consist of more than its representatives but its their representatives that have the power, not the rest of the group.

D) Agreed, please find an argument from a mainstream left representative that looks at what Petraeus has presented.

These may be arguments that look like they have something to back them up but they are all biased arguments that use the word "may" a lot and speculate on defintions. Hell, #5 basically saying that Bush is more of danger to the country than Al Qaeda.

No go have fun, its the weekend.
