I find this ironic since the number of actives we have nearly matches Russia's.
Both of which dwarf the nukes in other nuclear club states.

The U.S. hasn't quite began threatening an all-out nuclear holocaust just yet, and certainly not toward any of it's supposed allies. Not that anyone is going to drop their issues with the US just because Putin is acting like a lunatic.

It's all about looking strong. The polonium poisoning, the proposed gas pipeline to Alaska and now this. He's desperately trying to keep the increasingly dissatisfied elements in Russia impressed/terrified. At least, that's what I've gathered from the papers.

He's also doing his best to put the screws to his neighbors, so he's being an all-around asshole.

He just freezes them in midflight with his icy death glare, and then judo chops them into many small pieces.

Some Russian girls are hot. Some Russian girls are shot-putters (not that they aren't hot too, if you're that way inclined).

Personally I think America has blown it with Russia. We had a great opportunity to help shape a post Communist country and just let it fail. I don't mind helping countries that don't cost us the treasury like Iraq/Afghanistan. As it is Russia will probably be a thorn for us in the future when we could sure use a friend against the coming monster, China.

G8!!
