To all Republicans who support the policies of this administation in regards to wiretapping and violating the Fourth Amendment I can only say that I hope they have no problem with it when Hillary (or any other Democrat) is the President. If Bush has the authority (which he clearly does not) then every other President has the same authority and, who knows, they might not be as "trustworthy" as the present resident of the White House. If this is the "smaller" government that theconsservatives say they want, give me the "BIG" government that stays the hell out of my life and respects my privacy!!
Of course I'm not important. If I'm included in the millions of harmless and unimportant Americans they're illegally spying on, they're wasting effort that could be better spent elsewhere--not to mention breaking the law. They need to use legal means to spy on terrorists.
So it would be better to do nothing until they ARE tapping my phone or looking through my computer? Do you not see the huge potential for abuse that already exists?
I say if the we feel that domestic surveillance is necessary, then our government should be doing it under intense scrutiny from elected officials. Letting it happen because "it's happened before Bush" or because "they have no reason to spy on me" is short sighted an self-centered.
