that sentence was worded wrong: I have been on disability for about three years, but raising kids via child support for nearly two decades. The point was what I'm doing NOW. I've been in and out of poverty and slipped into "barely middle class" a couple of times due to my (now exes) spouses income. Yet because of that chart I've always been middle-class? Hilarious. Especially during the single-mom food stamp years.
