Have you seen the series: "Why are you so angry?" It kind of gets into a lot of sociological and psychological ideas about why a lot of people online (represented by a character called "Angry Jack") are so horrible to other people all the time.
There are six videos in the series. I'll link to the first, but I think the way I'm doing it will also get you to the other five:
How do we know that Jack was angry? All we know is that he appeared angry. When I'm doing math, people keep asking me, "What's wrong?" Apparently my concentrating on math face has some angry looking elements to it even though I am not angry and don't hate math.
I have no idea but it could be something neurological like that. I do the same thing when I'm checking meds at work. Maybe I just have a really angry looking concentration face.
So I watched the rest of the videos. And I like them. But I would wonder when it is applicable and when it is not. It can't just be about how liberals are always in the right and everyone else is having their worldview bubble popped. It can't always be about the enlightened "us" and the reactionary "other". In other words, the MRA's and Trump fans would also, to some degree, pop our worldview bubble. The creator of the videos did mention this in there somewhere but there doesn't seem to be any rubric or strategy for knowing when you are having a reactionary response and when you're just dealing with a bunch of dip-shits.
If you look at the longer description on the last video, he posts a sort of update where he somewhat addresses this. Basically, he got in a conversation with some feminist bloggers and it was pretty productive, and based on that, he wrote a sort of addendum to the video series. Lemme grab the link to it:

It's a small quirk in an otherwise excellent video series. The rest of that video (and the follow-ups) are quite good.

He also talks about further action and resources in the descriptions for all the videos, but that one post I think is the most useful.
