A mere 240 people live in the rural northeast Iowa town of Kensett, so when more than 300 crowded into the community center on Saturday night to hear Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, many driving 50 miles, the cellphones of Democratic leaders statewide began to buzz.

Kurt Meyer, the county party chairman who organized the event, sent a text message to Troy Price, the Iowa political director for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Mr. Price called back immediately. “Objects in your rear-view mirror are closer than they appear,” Mr. Meyer said he had told Mr. Price about Mr. Sanders. “Mrs. Clinton had better get out here.”

I think so, since she would have to uncross her left leg to move, but I don't understand where the joke is in that - unless it's just a crude gag.

Yah, there is a lot missing for that reference. But the artist is clearly trying to suggest something.

Bill is on her right suggesting a pull to the right with Bernie pulling left and Hillary's skirt and legs in the middle....Hmm.

I totally thought it was! Then after careful study I realized the cartoonist was just having trouble fitting them on the same couch.

Seriously don't. He's not palatable outside of his base supporters, and she's got a ton of superdelegates locked up already.

It's Ron Paul all over again.

=(

You are probably right. I am not expecting him to win the primary. As much as I would like him to.

1) I think if we were having this discussion in December 2014 as opposed to now, it might be a little different. Even so, in 2008, Clinton was the frontrunner but far from inevitable.

Still, Obama was/is much more mainstream with a much better control on his communications and agenda than Sanders is/has been, and his base of support is just much smaller.

2) I haven't seen any raw numbers, but people have been talking about it for a while now (www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/11/hillary-clinton-2016-superdelegates-endorse). I think the establishment Democrats are, frankly, afraid of the Clinton machine this time given that it's possibly their last shot, and they don't want to be frozen out if she does win. Very Obama-esque, in a sense.

I don't really look fort him to win myself. But I'm happy he's thrown his hat in the ring, if only because it will make the debates much more interesting.
