I love the slogan. And if it was separate, it would help all the elderly Jews in South Florida since they would no longer be subjected to such idiocies as the butterfly ballot.

I was reading about this today. Apparently the split would have Orlando (and all the tourism dollars included therein) as part of the southern portion. The thing I was reading said this would make northern Florida far and away the poorest state in the nation. I can hardly wait to watch them bootstrap themselves out of that situation.

Well, its blue because of the people who live here. The people live here because of UF, sure, but the local politics isn't driven by a transitory student population. It's driven by faculty, staff, and college grads that choose to stay.

Upstate NY has been trying to split with Downstate since forever. I suspect it's the same people, who now have more time to devote to the issue since they retired.

We all know the tip is all that matters. And it's got Miami, Tampa and Orlando so what else is needed? All of us who live in Florida know the further north you go the more south it gets. The panhandle is famously called the Redneck Riviera.

I can dream of the day when Florida is governed by the SoFla whackadoodles rather than the Redneck Riviera whackadoodles always making the news. They have an outsized influence for people who contribute nothing besides an economy for that Bugs Bunny gif.

As someone who lives in the tip, I'd be all for this. I'd love to jettison the inbred jackasses from the northern part of the state and settle down happily in my sunny liberal utopia.

I had no idea how close the election was in 2012.

Obama won the state and its 29 electoral votes on Election Day by a margin of 0.88%, down from the 2.82% margin in 2008. Florida was the closest race in the country at the presidential level.
