FWIW, the official numbers run about 150-200 per year. Thanks to organizations like Cop Block, we know that highly questionable police shootings number about 150-200 per year. Counting the seemingly justified ones, it's probably more like 400-500 per year.

If someone is killed by the police here there's an official inquiry by an independent board. It boggles the mind that that isn't standard practice in countries calling themselves first world (hint: it is in countries that are first world).
