There was a scene in the old (awesome) show Stargate:SG 1 where someone remarks that every time they kill off one major villain (like Apophis,) someone worse steps in to fill the power vacuum (like Sokar, Anubis, the Ori, etc.) I couldn't find a clip of it on Youtube, so just imagine that I posted that scene.
Someone referring to SG 1 as an "old" show makes me feel old.
As for the instance, was it the season 8 opener, where they are dealing with the system lords, helping them with Baal taking over now that Anubis was gone?
I'm thinking of tagging all the episodes by original air date, and watching them in that order, so I can shuffle the SG1 and SGA seasons together into one big glom and get the appropriately timed crossover events, and then finish out with Universe and the movies.
I do not think they need our help. They do fine on their own.
I do not think they need our encouragement, either. There is enough outside agitation that we can stay out of it and it'll keep simmering nicely for the next 10,000 years. I am pretty sure that if we nuke that while area to glass, in two hundred years we'd find the bacterias have taken up fighting.
