Yes, I thought we learned this lesson a long time ago. Rice's wife presumably has greater resources, but there are also greater pressures to stay and try to make the marriage and Rice's defense work. I wonder how regular was the abuse, how typical is the scene in the elevator.

Women's shelters are never empty. Money doesn't give you greater resources unless the money is yours. Sometimes money is the reason we stay.

Abuse doesn't have to be a regular thing. Sometimes the worst abuse comes as a big surprise.

Very true. I don't know if it is safe to assume he knew that a camera was in the elevator, but I suspect he wouldn't have thought it mattered, feeling pretty armored in his rich, star-athlete privilege.

I have been -told- she was insulting him and spat on him on the casino floor. He put up with it til they were "out of sight" then decked her. He wanted the public appearance of being the abused party.
