I'm not sure what news this cartoon is following, as I don't see radical Islam on its knees just yet, but it is a nice aspirational cartoon. You have to like the idea of it.

Eh, the advancement and empowerment of women, though slow, is plodding ahead in the west. Radical Islam will not permit that, and frankly, we have a bigger arsenal. I suspect we will win.

Just ask Malala Yousafzai.

I wish people were getting pissed off about the rapes in Rotherham (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-28939089). Unfortunately, the general public isn't nearly as horrified as it should be.

That seems to be the case. Mostly I've seen the blame flicked back to the girls. People are actually saying that the girls (and there were some as young as 11) went along with it and wanted to be with four or five guys a night. They were "bad girls" who were looking for sex and drugs. Yes, all 1400 girls were perfectly okay with all of it and capable of giving an adult consent to be gang raped. *sarcasm sigh*

It's really enough to make a sane person curl up in a corner and cry.

Eh? I'm always confused by this 'radical islam'. What does that even mean? And thank you male cartoonist for your slant on women rights and Islam, two issues I'm sure you know a lot about.

I am of the opinion as always, that women need to be educated more about Islam, so they know their rights in Islam.

As for 'radical Islam', I imagine they are talking about things like shooting girls for going to school, or beheading journalists for ransom, or committing genocide against minority religious groups, etc. And the problem, with respect to women, is that they don't have a lot of rights under such radicalized Islam - as opposed, of course, to the general, non-violent Islam practiced by mainstream populations.

Unfortunately, there are leaders of entire countries that participate in "radical" Islam. And they are able to justify it with the religious texts, just like the folks who say that it isn't justified. That's the problem with making laws according to religious texts that are well over a thousand years old.

Yeah, I thought as much, but none of that has to do with Islam. These things aren't sanctioned by Islam and simply because some people who do them call themselves muslim doesn't make it part of Islam.

I really don't like these terms because they're inaccurate and harmful.
