Yeah, the Republican plan will really free us. I also like the imagery suggesting that the Democrats want to chain up Black people. It adds to the lunacy of the comic.
Social Security is supposed to be insurance, not an investment account with the potential of losing everything.
Fourty years after the events in this comic, person A is up shit creek without a paddle because their shares flopped, and person B has a bit of a safety net.
If the stock market(8% average annual growth) has not kept pace with Social Security(2% average annual growth), then our country is up shit creek anyway and there's no way we'd be able to pay out social security anyway.
safety nets should be given to people that need them -- but people who don't need safety nets shouldn't be forced to make their own at reduced returns.
Insurance should be voluntary, not compulsory. Don't forget that the government's income is dependent on the economy- which is the same thing the stock market depends on.
Chances are, if the stock market crashes, so will the government.
hahahaha this is the funniest comic i've seen in a while. I love how fucked up most Republicans views are when it comes to race, gender, religion and sexuality. I know that the last 3 weren't mentioned in this comic but it's still a nice reminder that Republicans don't exactly have a strong grasp of reality.
Actually both republicans and democrats don't have a strong grasp of reality. They're both living in their own little worlds. The problem is, so is a large slice of the controlling population.
I don't understand how this cartoon has anything to do with race. The thrust of the cartoon is state ownership vs. private ownership.
Maybe the cartoonist is black and just happened to draw a black citizen. Would you be criticizing the cartoon if the person were white?? I think this is one of those situations where the artwork tells us more about the viewer than the artist.
Another such example: "What goes into a girl's mouth relatively dry, very hard, and straight -- but comes out all floppy, soft, and sticky?"
