Those who are suffering depression from terminal illnesses and those who care for them like nurses and families. There is much research into positive effects upon alcoholics, chronic violent criminals, and depression. Not to mention peoples own psychological recoveries and discoveries. LSD and other psychedelics have a valid place in modern society. Entheogens are a good thing. Anyone who enjoys an effective depressant occasionally could perhaps embrace the idea?
Exctasy, also known as MDMA, has been used succesfully in psycho-therapy. Not for the terminally ill, but for people who have a hard time even talking about painful memories. MDMA allows them to open up.
Also, this is how a friend put to it to his 80+ y/o grandmother (who is super sweet and nice, but never touched a drug in her life, aside from alcohol)

In 50-es LSD was prescribed by doctors, I think for exact same reasons. I am not going to pretend that I know anything about this subject. However, my approach is - be very careful about what you do with your body.
