I have thought about that recently, to be semi-serious for one moment. Just in that it does seem like a lot of male superheroes are unrealistically buff.
Yeah, there's that. I think body image, too, along with what it means to be a "man." With body image, it could cause guys to harm themselves (drugs, overly excessive gym usage), or their self-confidence to dip, if they want their bodies to look like that but can't quite get there.
With the "what it means to be a man" part... It could cause guys to feel "less than men" if they can't look like that. Or feel like they have to overcompensate in other ways (acting more aggressive, taking more risks).
A century ago, a strongman was something you saw at a carnival/circus. Now, it's something we're supposed to want to aspire to.
