I am not making excuses for anything. As a non-rapist/non supporter of rape/advocate for executing convicted rapists, I don't have to excuse anything in my own behavior. What exactly are you doing?

You are saying you can't because of you insist there must be a threat of being beaten and murdered far outsized to the real likely consequences of speaking up.

By all means, if the person engaging in public harassment of women is a giant skinhead wearing a shirt saying "I LOVE SKULLFUCKING" don't risk finding out if he really means that. But for the run of the mill public creep, "Hey, man, not cool" is not the risk you've implied.
