I was a kid but I remember that every night of the hostage crisis, there was an hour I think of news just about it. America was pretty freaked out.

Ted Koppel's "Nightline" was born in the coverage of that crisis.
And it was a tough time. I think that Carter had also reinstituted
selective service for a potential draft in response to the Afghanistan-
Russia crisis, too.

Nightline, that's it. The failed hostage rescue is the first time I heard a conspiracy theorist - on some late night am radio show.
