I'm confused though, on Thursday UN report just came out stating that chemical & biological weapons materials are missing/unaccounted for in Iraq.

well The UN seems to think there were WMD materials there in 2003.

The UN weapon inspections were hamstrung because they never had full access like they should, they were told by the UN to leave in 98 based on lack of cooperation from Baghdad. UNSCOM also pulled them out for the last time in 98 because of a possible US attack then. Then in 02, Baghdad offered to talk about letting inspectors back in after 4 years.

Of course they cared, finding WMD's would be a huge positive story for them. And this latest report from the UN seems to indicate that a weapon program was in the works. Maybe it didn't produce combat ready weapons, but why wait?

The Iraq weapons program may not have "been all that and a bag of chips" but don't think for a second that Hussein was not trying to secretly revitalize his chemical, biological and nuclear programs. Given enough time he could have done so without the UN in the country.

We thought we were safe prior to WWII, Pearl Harbor taught us different. Yeah I know they are different things but the lesson we learned from that is, we can be hit, especially when we underestimate our enemies.

We could do a lot of things, but we pick and choose our battles.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that we should not have infringed on a peaceful and well liked leader who treated his people with kindness who didn't do anything that required he be removed from power. (insert intense sarcasm)

I can't say for sure how long it would have taken to get their weapons program churning again, but it's a good thing we intervened when we did because no doubt one of his shitbag sons would have taken over the country upon daddy's death and apparently at least in the case of the older one he was more sick and twisted than his father.

Good riddance to Saddam, and his dirt bag sons. People who opposed the war need to quit crying over spilled milk, get on with their lives and just hope for the best for the Iraqi people.

You actually believe what is happening in Iraq is a civil war? That's funny, tell me another one! The citizens of Iraq are not fighting eachother, maybe a few nuts like Al-Sadrs have taken up arms against the US, but there were pretty much declawed. Most of the people in Iraq killing Americans are Syrians, Jordanians, Saudis and some Egyptians. They are not fighting for anything as noble as the people of Iraq, they are fighting for their own agendas.

But back to the original point, the UN says weapon materials that were probably for a WMD program are missing, what ye have to say to that?
