Sounds too much like my last high school reunion, I suppose.

Do those things actually happen? Now that I'm old enough that, in theory, I might attend one of those, I have to wonder:

aren't high school reunions just make-believe things that only happen in TV and movies?

I went to my 10th H.S. reunion spoiling for a fight - but it turned out my former tormentors were all too broke or ashamed to show up.

My brother drove by the 20th reunion for my class and said that it was a pretty sad little group sitting at a few tables, comparing belly sizes. So, pretty much a tv/movie trope, sans drama & romance.

The members of my high school class are always talking about how they want to have one, but since our class president and vice president (who are the ones that are supposed to organize them, at least in my school) hate each other with the burning passion of a thousand suns, they never seem to transpire.

And then it hits me: we could live like FAT rats if we were the blunt connection in Shermer, Illinois. So we collected some money we were owed and caught a bus. But you know what the fuck we found out when we got there? There IS no Shermer in Illinois. Movies are fuckin' bullshit.

You and I are alike in the sense that it's almost certain to cause you disproportionate rage. My suggestion would be to skip it.

You are I are nothing alike.

If avoiding rage was my goal, I'd never discuss politics with you Jeffy.

We're more alike than either of us want to think. Although maybe you want to get all angry at your old classmates, which in that case we're different, so have at it!

Skip the 10th, sure. Too little difference in people. The same cliques naturally reform, to their detriment.

The 20th for me was more entertaining. People have actually changed enough to provide entertainment.

I skipped the 30th.

We have them every 10 years.

It's funny to hear you say "isn't that just a TV thing". I see heaps of things happen here and I never know whether it's an american thing or an american TV thing (graduation rings and letterman jackets are two things taking off here).

Letterman jackets? You mean like embroidered stuff, or like some jock wearing a football jacket with his letters on it?

And yeah, graduation rings are a thing; but I've never bought any--though I do recall seeing them offered with other graduation schwag--for an extra hundred or two.

This kind of thing. It's common for the senior year to all get them.
