No, the argument that video games caused it is a red herring to distract from the things we should be discussing, because if we discuss those then the NRA's bankrollers in the gun industry might make less money.

We've got the fact that the majority of spree killers are white males. The fact that the gun industry often uses advertising that paints guns as evidence of masculinity, the company that made the gun used in the Sandy hook shooting, actually makes a "man card" which you get when you buy their gun and your friends are "encouraged to revoke it" if you aren't masculine enough. In short, the real debate should be around masculinity and guns, and why it's a toxic social mix that promotes such spree killings. It should be around how guns are advertised, and how the public sees them.

The NRA know full well nobody will ever ban video games, the Thompson crusade proved that, it's just a distraction tactic.
