I so wanted the president to look at him and say "You know Iran doesn't share a border with Syria and has an extensive coastline, right?"

someone from face book (reprodused on twitter) apparently tryed to claim that this ment irans rout between the med and the indian ocsian.

i could well be wrong, but i think there is only one rout between these two, and thats the suze canal. i assume that becous digging a canal if there were a perfectly good river would be realy dumb.

The Suez Canal is indeed the shortest route between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, by way of the Red Sea. However, you can tell your Facebook person the Suez Canal is owned and maintained by the Suez Canal Authority of Egypt, not Syria. And international treaty states the canal may be used "in time of war as in time of peace, by every vessel of commerce or of war, without distinction of flag." - meaning, basically, it does not matter who Iran is or is not friends with, they still get to use it.

*nods* indeed. I feel it really demonstrates how scarily ignorant Romney is on these topics. Not just saying stupid stuff, but dangerously stupid stuff for someone seeking to be PotUS.

i dont think i have any republicans on my facebook, or twitter for that matter...

Romney is not going to let his campaign be determined by geography.

Clearly the tunnel (where the WMDs were hidden) under Iraq to Syria lets them have access to the sea.

In Romney's defense we need it drawn out on a map to show why Romney is wrong.

Someone pointed me to this (http://www.rethinkingschools.org/just_fun/games/mapgame.html) the other day. I've been doing it a couple of times a day, and hoping some of this will rub off on medium-term memory.
