Disingenuous chart is disingenuous.

If that were true, we'd be a socialist utopia already!

No shit, Sherlock. Where the heck did this chart come from?

Why, thank you! I admire your fierceness in dealing with badlydrawnjeff. He likes to provoke us and I've come to the point where I know how to respond without raising my blood pressure and my stress level. It wasn't easy, however!

Oh, okay! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one whose hackles have been raised by Jeff!

A much more reliable source for information about political donations is opensecrets.org. Their website has LOTS of detailed information about amounts, donors, etc.

I sincerely doubt that Koch Industries has only given roughly $13 million to conservative political candidates and organizations over the last 23 years. For 2012 alone, they'd already spent $2.5 million by July 31.

Look at the time frame, though. How long has Koch industries itself been a corporate entity? How much more comes from donations under private names? Donors to whom for that matter? The chart itself is disingenuous, sure, but I wonder if that's just manipulation of numbers rather than outright lying.

It's a terrific book, and a fun, easy read — but that's the money quote.

That is an interesting point. Also the Koch brothers have set up a pac that they spend money through, that has its own people who even go so far as to troll the opinion line of the wichita newspapers.

Living in wichita Ks, I can say with reasonable chance of accuracy they have given that much to push politics in Kansas -alone-

Doesn't surprise me a bit.

I am curious how much these groups have donated in the past decade. Before the Koch brothers took control from their father, at the least.
