I had a dead rockstars party for my 27th birthday with special emphasis on the 27 club (I went as Mr Mojo Risin). One of my friends came as Amy Winehouse, a dead ringer for her to boot. This was in 2008.
I think the phrase "as needed" mostly comes up on over the counter medications, but regardless it is still generally bound by other instructions such as "do not take more than n in t hours" , "do not take with alcohol, even if you're a celebrity", and "If erection occurs for more than 4 hours; pick up a hooker"
The fact that marijuana remains a Schedule 1 substance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Schedule_I_drugs_(US)) makes a mockery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Removal_of_cannabis_from_Schedule_I_of_the_Controlled_Substances_Act) of the scientific integrity of the entire Controlled Substances Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controlled_Substances_Act).
1.) It does not have high potential for abuse or addiction. 2.) It has valid, proven, scientifically established medical uses. 3.) It is safe.
I remember listening to a health lecture and the professor had made a good point. Certainly we do not want people getting high and driving but there seems to be no reliable way for us to test marijuana on the road side.
1. Depends on if you're talking physical or mental addiction. Alcohol for example technically isn't just physically addictive, it's psychologically addictive and that's what causes the physical addiction for many people who become alcoholics. I've known people who've become mentally addicted to weed, about 10% of users will become psychologically addicted, a further 30% will become dependent on it. 2. No argument here. 3. Never met any of the minority of people who rather than mellow munches get violent and plain nasty, or looked at the proof that MJ use as a teenager increases the chance of mental illness at a later date? It's safety has not been proven, claims that it is completely safe are as much baloney as claims that it's a thousand times stronger today than it used to be.
I'm for legalising weed (Hemp is le awesome) and taxing it to take income away from drugs barons, but the facts aren't as you presented them.
Anna Nicole Smith, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and Whitney Houston were not using drugs and alcohol the way they are supposed to be used. This might be more effective if you could find people who had legal access to drugs and used them in the prescribed dosages and then died.
Well, isn't it obvious? Marijuana growers don't have lobbyists in Washington, at least not on the level of Big Pharma and the people producing alcohol :P

Marijuana does not have a LD-50.
