Not watching the video (I don't care for Maher.), but I can easily state why I don't like Palin or Bachmann.
1) Palin is a rabid Evangelist whose church figures largely with the Joel's Army group (http://www.alternet.org/story/96945/theocratic_sect_prays_for_real_armageddon/?page=entire) who would prefer her daughter to bear a rape baby rather than abort (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/01/palin-on-abortion-id-oppo_n_122924.html). It does not help that I find her massively inarticulate and incapable of speaking normal English (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7607475), nor am I able to countenance what she gets wrong (http://www.politifact.com/personalities/sarah-palin/).
2) Bachmann lies through her teeth constantly. (http://www.politifact.com/personalities/michele-bachmann/) She's also supported by more Joel's Army nutsos (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/19/259024/-MN-06:-Bachmann-and-abusive-dominionist-churches), not surprising since she herself is a noted advocate of dominionism. (http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=18587) And I'm not supporting anyone who's husband has as his primary business a counseling firm that promotes 'reparative therapy' (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/17/us/politics/17clinic.html)
I've said it before and I will say it again: If the Republicans would put someone up as a viable candidate who is NOT part of Sword of the Lord crowd (Perry, Bachmann, Santorum, whatnot), I would consider it. That is not going to happen so long as they need to stoke their theocratic base.
If Bachmann and Palin were liberals, then they could use the default excuse of "People just don't like them because they are wimins.." Since they are conservatives, liberals can feel free to be bigoted toward their religion.
