Circa December 1978:

"In a bold move to bolster the sagging economy, Reagan also announced that he intends to abolish the Federal Department of Education. Reagan claims the strategy will aid millions of out of work Americans with college degrees who can now be put to work reading conservative books and magazines aloud to a generation of younger, illiterate citizens." - Charles Rocket, Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update

Just replace "Reagan" with any Republican member of Congress, and it's completely relevant more than 30 years later!

Younger, illiterate citizens? Then the ecomony will be stimulated when people buy stupid stuff they can't afford, like DVDs and Monster Energy Drinks on LINK cards.

You're not supposed to be able to buy those on a LINK card, according to the information from the Illinois website. If you know of someone who is doing so, you can report the fraud here (http://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=44947).

Well it's much easier to keep the peasantry in line when they stay ignorant.
