Let's get rid of medicare, medicaid, and about 90% of the military. Then you can have your peanuts.
Of course, that means lots of people will die preventably, but who gives a shit about them. They're poor and/or old. They're just a burden on a capitalist society.
without the government throwing tax money at elitist scientists the free market would have developed a better and cheaper alternative instead of the socialist internet we have today. Same with NASA, without the government fat cats meddling in spaceflight we'd have colonies in Andromeda by now, obviously.
For 1999, 6.3 million taxpayers whose incomes were in the top 5 percent paid more than 55 percent of all income taxes. They had adjusted gross incomes above $120,846 a year, meaning spouses could earn a bit over $60,000 each and be considered among the nation's richest. The wealthiest 1 percent — those earning $293,415 and up — paid more than a third of the taxes, while their share of the nation's taxable income was 19 percent. They pay income taxes at the top rate, now 38.6 percent, compared with a maximum rate of 15 percent for most lower-earning taxpayers. http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/taBx.htm
i saw an interesting facebook comment that's related to this topic.
"So how many hours of work per month should a person contribute to the general welfare in order to be paying their "fair share." I speak in hours because it is the one commodity that we all have the same of, that is what makes it "fair" at least in some sense of the word. Why should a garage mechanic have to contribute 4 days a month of work to the country, and a hedge fund trader only one day a month? Or whatever it is."
