Quote: myself: In general, people know that you shouldn't condemn all of Christianity for a few fruitloops, but they're making a point by saying it that you should think of Islam similarly.
I disagree because I don't think that the comparison of Terry and Christianity to terrorists and Islam is fair due to the vast difference in magnitude.
Ok, use the abortion bombers, or the Lords Resistance Army terrorists, or the crusaders, or the inquisition, or whatever you think would be similar, I don't care and it doesn't matter.
The abortion bombers are valid. LRA is not because it also pretended to be Islamic, thus ruining its credibility forever. The crusaders or the inquisition don't count because that's before 10 years ago.
On my side I'll just take honor killings. Hezbollah and Al Quaeda don't count completely because they are mostly political.
That leaves us with a handful on your side and thousands on mine.
Wait, anything that wasn't 10 years ago doesn't count now? Riiight...
Oh and I think killing people with AIDS counts. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2003/oct/09/aids
Can we talk about child abuse, medical negligence and domestic violence that are considered holy in the FCLDS? http://www.amazon.com/Escape-Carolyn-Jessop/dp/0767927567 If Christianity is such a good religion, then why is this man wanted by the FBI? http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/cac/jeffs_ws.htm
Shootings are ok too if you are a Christian: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Tiller
BTW, it helps if you actually read what Rukh is saying.
Killing with AIDS doesn't count. The catholic church is not obligated to supply condoms to anybody, and they most definitely don't withhold condoms from people.
The FCLDS are creepy, but even your figurehead is not being charged with murder.
The Catholic church inoculates people against understanding why condoms can help them.
Sure, when instead of hurting someone you teach them to hurt themselves, culpability works differently. But their actions have consequences nonetheless.
