The humor of wisdom and pragmatism doesn't really alter the fact that in spite of one funny, grumpy old man's rantings, the planet is getting warmer and we might be able to slow that down by just doing a few easy things that will also (a) save us money in the long run, and by "long" I mean not really very long at all; and (b) reduce our dependence on shoveling money into the pockets of people who aren't very nice and some of whom give the money to people who want us DEAD.
not to mention i've seen this bit co-opted by right-wingers as though it proves their point. the whole reason for environmentalism is to protect human interests, human survival. i don't think most environmentalists literally believe we will use styrofoam to turn the planet into a smoldering black asteroid belt before we're extinct.
I am all for becomming energy independant. If the technology exists to create energy that is efficeint and cheap. Lets do it. Solar, wind, hydro, nuclear and many others are answers to our oil desperate lifestyles.
No offense Dr. Blazz, but LOL Newsmax. Founded by the William Casey family, Richard Mellon Scaife, and a couple of people who made their names in journalism trying to prove the Clintons murdered Vince Foster. Seriously.
The evidence against the MMGW models is overwhelming- meanwhile, after decades and billions of dollars invested in proving it, there is NO science indicating CO2 is warming the planet- ZERO.
The only "science" was ice core samples that before 2000 seemed to link warming and CO2 escalation. But argon and carbon dating since have demonstrated warming causes slight co2 escalation.
Slight CO2 escalation has FOLLOWED warming during every interglacial transition on record- the exact opposite of the Gore lie: http://www.mises.org/story/2571 And exactly what has happened since the little ice 500 years ago.
Here is a taste of the 32,000 scientists refuting the MMGW nonsense with their sigs and reps.
"It turns out that none of our models were totally correct," says Dean Pesnell of the Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA's lead representative on the panel. "The sun is behaving in an unexpected and very interesting way."
First of all- there is no warming since 1998 as determined by all 4 global tracking org's: http://www.dailytech.com/Temperature+Mon…

More than 31,000 scientists have signed this petition demonstrating direct correlation between solar irradiance and earth's temp. They- and many others also show that CO2 levels have been more than 400% higher BEFORE fossil fuels. PR Research: http://www.petitionproject.org/gw_articl…
700 distinguished scientists have petitioned the Senate calling MMGW a fraud: http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?F…
!00 more leading scientists petitioned the UN- many of them claimed by Gore to be part of his nonsensical UN consensus: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php…
Gore's "consensus" was actually 5 UN tools: http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/art…
The entire change in CO2 after 120 years in industrialized humanity is 1/100th of 1 percent- .028-.038 of 1 percent: http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/Carbon…
Okay, thanks for the effort at finding non-wackjob sources. You're not going to convince me, and you're certainly not going to convince the polar bears or the sailors that can now sail right across the North Pole without so much as slowing down, that the planet's climate isn't changing and that humans haven't contributed to it. Sorry.
Working so hard to what? State my disbelief of global-warming? It just happens to be a pet peeve of mine. I'm not really working hard at that just trying to get my point across. I'm for conservation but then again who the hell isn't? I recycle. I car pool. I turn the light off when I exit the room. But am I going to drastically change my lifestyle...no, and I doubt most people will either.
If given the option of an eco-friendly power source that is the same price and just as good as a non-friendly one I would take it. I would take it perhaps even if it were more expensive and it prooved to save me money in the long run. However I do like having the power to choose what I want rather than only having one option.
Why do you continue interfering with nature by continuing your life? Do not drive, do not bike, walk to your nearest forest and lie down until something eats you.
I disagree with George Carlin on a few issues--he had slightly statist bent despite his rebellious rhetoric, and he sure seemed to be an advocate of gun control, but his insight into the human condition was pure genius.
