Despite their nasty-lookin' faces, that's what the people on the right are doing. The process is one which creates social goods even if none of the participants are themselves all that interested in social goods. That's what's so magical about it.

The problem with that story was not that the kids' activities were secret, that their little Obama dance should not have been revealed to the world. It was the fact that anyone gave a shit, or thought it proved anything.

I attribute that ridiculous fact to this sort of thing being so new. In another decade videos like these will be commonplace and people trying to make points with them will be laughed out.

Conservatives are still pretty new to the internet. Remember that we got on here a couple of election cycles ahead of the race, so we're a little harder to shock by now. If you found an equal-but-opposite video buried somewhere at the bottom of YouTube with 12 views, depicting some dummies chanting Palin/Maverick slogans and step-dancing, would you spend time building a viral e-mail forward for your friends, or would your jaded Internet brain dismiss it as too dumb and podunk for anyone to give much of a crap about?

I agree, but i doubt the GOP strategists and FOX are exactly as wide-eyed innocent.

Maybe not. For any of this to work, YouTube should probably try its best to crowd Fox out of existence.
