I know a lot of people labeled it a hate crime, imagine that when a bunch of rich white southerners rape a poor black girl, what were they thinking? It was still rape though and rape tends to elicit rushes to judgement regardless of the races involved. I still don't see the correlation between rape and a good oldfashioned beatdown of some punk on the school bus.
Obviously. I said elsewhere that I was dubious on the claim from the beginning and that it turned out to be a false claim. That doesn't change the fact that the charge was rape and people tend to have a much more emotional response to rape than they do to ordinary schoolyard fights.
