The National Weather Service has issued a shitstorm warning for this area. Take cover immediately. You'll probably die, anyway, but at least you can try to protect yourself.
I rarely ever comment in here, but these are the kind of things I hate seeing.
Is there racism and xenophobia in politics? Of course there is. Is, as Bill Maher put it, it more likely that if you are a racist you are also Republican? Yeah, that is a potentially misleading but potentially true statement (not 100% accurate, but a generalization).
I hate seeing things like this. This is no better (or, worse than) some of the anti-Obama "cartoons" that lack any creative or witty amount of criticism outside of the infamous Durrrrr Hurrrr Derp Derp Derp type cartoonery.
This "cartoon" is akin to the GOPers continually saying "The Democrat Party" instead of "Democratic Party." When shit like this hits the screen, you've given up the high ground. Much like "Democrat Party" is disrespectful and childish because it denies the simplicity and respect of calling someone by their name, simply plastering the words "Do you hate niggers..." and attaching it to the Republican Party is no different or any less childish.
Why can't people on both sides in this community elevate things? It seems like the GOPers in this community have really been working in groupthink and posting the same cartoon (or damn near the same cartoons) and then the Democrats post shit like this. Really, can't we all elevate the discussion and the expression...just a little?
Seriously, if people did elevate things, there would be no cartoons.
Alan Watts said something to the effect that "Love your enemies" actually means enjoying the fact that you do have enemies because their badness makes you a good guy, and fighting the bad guys is entertaining. The alternative is too boring for most people.
People are having a hard time seeing past the word "niggers." For most, that word is a full stop. There are some intelligent, thoughtful comments here. Overall I'm pleased with the responses.
I'm a very hard to offend person but this doesn't sit well with me. I have huge issues with sweeping generalizations such as these mainly because it is a tactic to get people who disagree with the Democrats to STFU. Don't get me wrong, I see Republicans employ similar tactics and it is wrong. It doesn't accomplish anything.
