The "tea party" protests, like every other thing right-wingers do that involves comparing themselves to previous struggles in American history, neglect a very significant difference: the founding fathers weren't enormous pussies.

Let's get this straight- they want to compare to the Boston Tea Party- the spark of a conflict that led to armed rebellion, willful defiance of the ruling government, and years-long war- to a protest they filed paperwork to have, got sponsorship by Fox News, and did nothing to actually alter the government in any way? Gosh, next thing you'll be telling me that most of these guys didn't even try and fight in a war they all cheered for!

These people are pussies. They always are and always will be. They tell other people to fight wars, other people to actually fight the government, and in the case of Glenn Beck, tell other people to go murder people whose views they disagree with. Seeing them with almost no power in government right now is fascinating- like watching an old Friday the Thirteenth movies and wondering how this shit ever scared you.

Thank god Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson did a little bit more than go home and bitch on their blogs, and thank god right-wingers don't want to do anything harder than that.

Tea party != Right Wingers.

Everything not socialist is not "Right Wingers."

Socialists slay me...

I know lots of 'em. Perhaps you have a flawed definition of "right wing."

I could point you to myself as an example of a non-right-winger, but I wasn't out there that day. I was doing something a little more constructive. I'll use my 5th Amendment Right and not go into any more detail...

You might have to wait eight years for your boys to get back into office and start really screwing things up again.

Not my boys.

Check your assumptions.

If there is one thing that makes me feel better is that looking at history it is always the leftists who suffer the most at the hands of the leftists. Most of the people who were sent to the Siberian Death Camps were their fellow leftists of various sub-flavors.

This warms my heart.

History always repeats.

There may have been some serious people who were anti-tax at the tea parties, who somehow managed to stay quiet through eight years of higher taxes and did so without partisan bias. But the real thing that came out in these was a stereotypical partisan attack against democrats because of their mythical association with tax-and-spend. These were anti-Obama rallies at their core, no matter how noble a few people were in trying to organize them. I'm really sorry your protest got usurped, but it appears you're not really paying attention to what happened.

Nothing mythical about it.

But the Republicans are no better.

Not a Unicorn (http://www.truthin08.org/)

Truth, the anti-drug. Neither side of the bifurcated party did this alone.

If it's a partisan attack... and it accuses a group of people of something that the attacker is doing... and that the attacker does WORSE... then it's mythical. There is no reason to believe that democrats are less responsible with taxpayer monies than republicans are. That's why it's mythical.

Ah yes...and all that extreme spending our children were paying for from Reagan and the Bush years is just fine.

Nonsense. You know better. Quit helping the liars lie.

Maybe it would. I know people who agree with me who attended tea parties though, as well as end the fed rallies.

I don't agree with the modern redefinition of socialism. Temporary training wheels on a bicycle don't stop it from being a bicycle. We have one of the lowest total tax rates of any industrialized nation, and the trend has been set for lower taxes as a percentage of GDP for quite a while, now. The cries of socialism are reactionary, misplaced, and perhaps malevolent at heart.

If you believe taxation is theft like I do then everything you see is socialism...

Perhaps the better term is collectivism/statism. Pretty much all the -isms are bad if they involve initiating force against another's Life, Liberty, or Private Property.

Expanding the term socialist in that way is unlikely to be useful and just invites miscommunication.

States are the way really-existing private property holders have preferred to protect their landlordism and exclusive, despotic usage of tracts of land (which they did not create), as well the resources needed for human life (like housing, food/earth, and water).

I think there is the same kind of statism within corporations... and I believe capital and money can be used coercively. To me, there is no difference between corporate oligarchy and government democracy.

Democratic governments can be voted out of office? Larger shareholder enfranchisement in a democracy than in a corporate oligarchy?

Good points... but there is also more of in inherent meritocracy in corporations and a much more solid way of determining competence than in democracy. I think demagogues and liars have a better opportunity in government than they do in business. Both sides have ups and down.

Give me a break. The tea parties were totally right-wing pity parties. Maybe you had an odd duck, misguided liberal or something here or there (like the one who infiltrated a tea bagging event HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkOwsIIIe5I&feature=player_embedded), only to get booed), but it was absolutely an anti-progressive, mass demonstration of backwards, reactionary sentiment.

Unless youve been living in a hole, you know the pity parties were promoted by FOX News, and organized by Freedomworks, run by Dick Armey, the GOP ex-congressman from Texas who did summon a dick army to these things, and Newt Gingrich's Freedworks.

This is Newt Ginrich's invitation to the pity parties:

Mor ephoto galleries of the signs can be found at various places on the web.

seriously dude? asking for proof is one thing, but you're approaching "prove a bird still exists after it flies away" levels.

I'm sure not every single one of the tea baggers are right wingers but the vast majority are.

It's funny how the left thinks their failure to understand something is somehow a problem for everyone else.

If we waited around for the left to catch up we'd still be explaining fire to them.

No, we just fail to understand the "logic" that puts most of this stuff together. But then, when it looks less like logic and more like word twisting and selective memory, ignore and point and giggle.

Do you think that the people who attended the tea parties should act like the mainstream liberal terrorists in ALF or ELF? Do you think that the people who attended the tea parties should act like the mainstream left who rioted during the WTO in Settle?

Quick question, since I may have missed something and I'm able to acknowledge it:

"...and in the case of Glenn Beck, tell other people to go murder people whose views they disagree with."

Source? Reasoning? What did I miss?
