Actually, I think he was against the bailout from day 1. Also, I think he believes in the flawlessness of capitalists in the sense that capitalists will always, flawlessly act in their own self-interest and maximize their profits in any legal (or sometimes illegal) ways they can. I think he would say that that's a neccessary condition for the "invisible hand" to work the way it's supposed to.

I really don't mean to defend the Hammer (can't get "Can't Touch This" out of my head) because I usually disagree with him. But I am here to defend capitalism. Where I think many free market fundamentalists get it wrong is believing the "invisible hand" results in the optimal solution in every situation.

Of course, even in the times the market is shitty, that doesn't automatically mean the government is great.
