John McCain & "The C-Word"
Jun. 21st, 2008 02:58 pmDedicated to those too squeamish to discuss an incident related to the temperament and character of a guy who'd like to be President.
McCain's freaky-mean '92 outburst is a well-sourced story found in Cliff Schecter's book "The Real McCain." Due to the particularly profane nature of the offense it would probably be useless to wait for the press to give it the full-on, endlessly repeating, 24-7 Reverend Wright treatment. So the Public Service Administration is here to help.

Date: 2008-06-22 06:32 pm (UTC)In general, the liberals are less hypocritical than the folk screaming about the private lives of people. Liberals are less likely to be outraged by such lapses: after all, they're Liberal, and have a live and let live mentality.
For example: people who agree with gay rights are less likely to have to resign for gay trysts in lavatories than Conservatives who preach against such things, but who nevertheless engage in such practices.
I fear you may have it backwards.

Date: 2008-06-22 09:10 pm (UTC)Perhaps we have a different definition of what constitutes 'live and let live'.
As for idiots on the left, they are plentiful, no doubt: but the calculated witch-hunt is rather different (IMHO) to the search for a good laugh at the opposition's hypocrisy.
And for the record, I feel bad language, even if disrespectful, is a lot less wrong than adultery: though both show levels of disrespect to the partners in question.
Adultery is almost never funny (excepting perhaps in Boccaccio or Chaucer)....calling your missus something unrepeatable in public is a different sort of lapse.
