In case anyone missed it, Cheney was interviewed on Good Morning America. When presented with fact that two-thirds of the populace was against the war, his answer was a curt "So?"
Here's a story that comments on it. It may not be the best source, but it's the first one I found in my quick search: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-ridley/five-years-on-bush-chen_b_92789.html
Cheney was being interviewed and asked something like
Well, I coulda told everyone this before he was elected in the first place. Cheney couldn't possibly give less of a flying fuck about anyone who is not Dick Cheney. His entire purpose for existing is to make a lot of money and keep it. Period.
Bush and Cheney need to be impeached. And I don't mean a slap on the hand like Bill got. I mean frog-marched out of the White House and into jail where they belong.
Even without impeachment we could still bring them up on charges, as long as there are no idiots that are going to pardon them or anything stupid like that. Y'know, the way Bushdaddy pardoned pretty much everyone on Earth for the Iran-Contra thing.
I agree with you. Too late for impeachment and the administration would stall with providing any information anyway. Better to get someone new in there and open the document floodgates.
So what? It's not like he's running for re-election. Besides, Bush and Cheney have always been able to look at the idiotic protesters who follow them around and think "Not my voters".
When a Democrat has to take the country to war, they have to look at those protesters and think "They helped me get into office".
Of course, Cheney is a guy who shoots the people he likes in the face.
The United States hasn't been in a necessary war since 1945. People don't care if a war is necessary. What they care about is how well the war is fought.
Well, fair enough. If the cost of the war (to some degree in money but especially in lives) is in better proportion to its necessity, then it'll be easier to sell.
Man, accuracy is so much less pithy than oversimplification.
are you serious? I always had this impression that that place was weird... great landscapes, something screwy about the people. Now I just confirmed it.
Flying an American flag upside down is not necessarily meant as political protest. The practice has its origin in a military distress signal; displaying a flag in this manner is "a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property"[15]; it has been used by extension to make a statement about distress in civic, political, or other areas. Upside-down flying of the flag was ruled constitutional in Spence v. Washington, a 1974 Supreme Court ruling.[16]
