in my blood? what are you talking about? I sometimes get the feeling you're like this muslim robot who doesnt really speak english, just posts random articles and racist pictures from different sites.
Arabic for Dummies. That is a good one for me. I'm assuming it won't have my tongue in knots like Gaelic. I'm glad I moved to mainland Scotland and not the outer isles.
All I know is that there is a massacre as bad as the Holocaust in Sudan and its the Muslims fault.
Yes, Darfur is looking as bad as what happened in Rwanda -- "Genocide" - a word "they" avoided uttering from lips around the world when they talked about Rwanda... However, there were very good Muslims that tried to help and also died in helping people in Rwanda.
But the lack of discrimination for targets exists on both sides: the 'civlised' and the 'uncivilised'. One's a respected government and one's a bunch of terrorists....run that by me again....Hmmmm. [Inhales the heady scent of double-standards.]
"I do too, but also its partly their own fault as well. Its a vicious cycle. They fire missiles at Israel... their government does it as well. Then, yeah, Israel is going to strike back."
But here's the thing. This is more popular urban legend than historically accurate. As far as a vicious "cycle" of violence in the region, suicide bombings and indiscriminate homemade missiles shot into Israel are a phenomenon of violence, on the part of the Palestinian side, that dates back to about 15 years. Violence at the hands of the Israeli government dates back to Israel's occupation of Gaza/West Bank, 30+ years ago -- an occupation deemed illegal by international law from the start, even assuming that the occupation had been a "bloodless" one.
Blaming Israel's refusal to pull out; refusal to stop misappropriating control over the Palestinian economy, telecommunication, water, airspace, and coastline; and refusal to cease the use of deadly force within the occupied territories, on Palestinian violence has just served as a handy smokescreen used to evade serious assessments of Israel's refusal to completely disengage from the territories.
Since when do we "revoke" sympathy for an entire group of people based on a political art/cartoon we don't like? You mean, you couldn't have just critiqued the artist who drew it (like we typically do when we don't like a political cartoon that's posted on this community)?
It doesn't make much sense to have compassion for people who continue to spread hateful propaganda and who perform suicide bombings on civilians? OH YEAH, because it doesn't.
I have sympathy for a people who lost their land through a series of really stupid alliances. I have sympathy for people who have lost their homeland and might, PERHAPS, be learning that their prejudice and racism have led them astray. I have sympathy for people who stand up for what is right in the face of opposition. What this cartoon shows me is that they don't think their alliances were stupid, they don't feel their prejudice and racism have led them astray, and that they are willing to stand up for what is WRONG in the face of opposition.
See, I'm an optimist, and I continue to believe in the good of people. Despite the fact that statistics show me that this cartoon is HIGHLY representative of the opinions of many of the arab states, I continue to try and believe that this kind of propaganda is a fluke... but when I see it in print, my optimism is reminded of the cold truth.
So save your incredulity for someone else... you're wasting it on me.
It's OK for Palestinians to attack Israelis because many Israeli's are descended from Europeans, whereas it's not OK from Israeliis to attack Palestinians because many of the Palestinians are dark skinned.
