Since there has been such lengthy conversation about the stem-cell cartoon I had posted earlier, I think this followup is due. If you missed yesterday's Daily Show, Jon Stewart was at his best.

I wish Jon Stewart would run for office. Stewart/Colbert '08 would be a hell of a ticket.

The talking Embryos sounds like an indie rock band - or a talking heads coverband.

In the past year I've noticed Stewart has become more...opinionated. His views and biases always been obvious, but I've noticed that since the election of 2004 he's been more willing in his diatribes and interviews to side himself with his left-leaning audience.

That said, I caught this last night and I really enjoyed it.

Yeah, that's a fair response. I agree that he's against any and all stupidity in the congress, and that at the moment congress is full of a bunch of stupid republicans, notably the extreme ones. I do think that he's still fairly leftward, but its not like I mind.

And yeah, I've caught Stewart on Larry King, and I think he did a show on Letterman too. Of course, there's the always infamous Crossfire performance. I just really like how him (and now Colbert too) have been able to jump from late night cable to national influence, using comedy and satire to awake the country to problems with politics.

may i remind you that congress which has a republican majority. Passed the bill. But bush vetoed it. The problem lies more with the president on this issue than the congress.

I remember when Stewart cried on his show after the 9/11 attacks. Since then, he's not done anything I've been proud of him for.

And therein lies a major problem with the left today: they want to get their news from a mockery of a news show. They actually want John Stewart and/or Colbert to run for office. Quite odd.

As opposed to having B list actors run one of the largest states in the nation or even worse, the Nation?

I just have to note the irony of someone that idenitifies himself as closest to the Libertarian Party as being against extremists. :)

I used to consider myself most closely aligned with them (and still do, to some degree), but I have a lot of trouble voicing any sort of support for them anymore after some of the ridiculous things the party has said, done, and endorsed the past few years.

So, what's the acceptable news sources then? I'm sure y'all have a list.

i've always wanted to make a t-shirt that says

"Anyone smart enough to be management would be too smart to ever take the job"

cause they know all management jobs are bullshit.

ergo colbert/stewart 08 would never fly

but it is an amusing thought though, especially them being so politically different...
