Oh, those whiny Jews. They're always complaining about how the countries that surround them want to destroy them, or about how the Palestinians that they're trying to negotiate with refuse to recognize them as a country, or that people shoot rockets into their cities. And they won't forget that one time, when someone almost succeeded in destroying them. Can't they just let this stuff drop?
But having talked to Israelis, I can definitely say that the allegations about Israel are untrue. Israelis don't want to take land, and they don't want to kill Muslims, and they don't want war. What they want is for people to stop killing their children. So from that perspective, it's hard for me to assign blame to Israel. It's clear that the Israeli government is using excessive force, and that's bad. But they're not shooting rockets just to hurt civilians, either, or threatening to kill hostages, or refusing to recognize the existence of the other party, or all that nasty stuff.
So, the point is, the Jews aren't terrible, and the claims that the Jews are evil and should be pushed into the sea and should have rockets fired at them are clearly false. On the other hand, it's clearly true that Israel's enemies are targeting civilians, and kidnapping and murdering soldiers. At the same time, they refuse to even recognize Israel. What is Israel to do? I don't think Israel should be taking broad military action as it is doing, but the "Israel is evil" rhetoric I keep hearing is wrong.
The U.S. is one of the few nations where, for the most part, there is no calling for restraint or proportionate responses. There is generally pro-Israel sentiment.
you are really the master at missing the forest for the trees, the cartoon is suggesting a reason (though exagerrated) for the pro-isreali sentiment. its not meant to accurately protray US policy
