As far as I am concerned the Jews should have kick the ragheads ass back to the stone age long ago. But nOOooo, lets let Arafat live for 40 years and spawn fifty different terrorist organizations (like we are doing with Osama). If anyone thinks this will ever be over before the Sun goes Nova then you are a sammich short of a picnic.

"Jews should have kick the ragheads ass"

hahahah, and I sometimes think that people like this don't exist, that they're just in history books. Thank you so much for being a living proof of bigotry. :)

It's funny that he glorifies Pink Floyd on his journal, when Roger Waters has been one of the most outspoken celebrities against Israel's Wall of Dehumanization. Of course, I'm sure he doesn't know that.

I never understood how people can listen to music like Pink Floyd and come off of it saying something stupid like what [livejournal.com profile] saint_boner said.

Maybe.. But on every issue?

I'm a Zionist. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop listening to most music that's produced, nor would I stop enjoying it.

I believe both sides are equally at fault here, and they both should stop this ridiculous fighting.

Out of curiousity, if they are equally at fault, how come according to wikipedia 12 Israeli citizens were killed versus 145 Lebanese (with many additional unconfirmed) civilians killed?

And on that token... what did the Lebanese civilians do? Isn't Hizbollah which according to Israel responsible for its madness and fury a separate entity than Lebanon and the Lebanese army? I don't see your argument, at all.

Unless your impling "the other side" to be Arabs (TEH RAGHEADS versus TEH JOOS) which really is somewhat dehumanizing isn't it? In the same way the French in Quebec can't be held responsible for the actions of the French people in France.

People should seriously give political correctness a rest. This ain't the forties anymore, truth matters.

Fault isn't generally measured in bodies. Just because one has the capability to kill more people does not mean they are at fault in every conflict. I see no problem in coming out and saying BOTH sides are being retarded and as a result BOTH sides will see innocents suffer. The sooner we admit that both sides have legitimate complaints the sooner we can attempt to reach comprimise. Demonizing or lionizing one or the other doesn't accomplish anything

Wait... you didn't answer my questions--

copy/paste: "What did the Lebanese civilians do? Isn't Hizbollah which according to Israel responsible for its madness and fury a separate entity than Lebanon and the Lebanese army?"

"I see no problem in coming out and saying BOTH sides are being retarded and as a result BOTH sides will see innocents suffer."

Both sides have certainly acted retarded over the years. Actually no, Israel has acted in a very tactical manner, of course with the support of the US. some among PA must have acted VERY retarded or the Palestanians wouldn't have lost their land in the onset of 20s/30s. But its dangerous to set as much blame on the Palestanians in terms of commiting atrocities as the Israelis [ignoring the poor Lebanese who had nothing to do with anything, except having a fragile society] when Israel has clerly fullfilled its role as the big dog around the neighbourhood (full military, 200 nuclear heads, constant raids, 'the wall', checkpoints, economic sanctions against the Palestanians, and so on).

If you have something factual and enlightening and non-rhetorical to contribute, please do so, otherwise I should finish my damn essay [which I wish was about me-relations not chemsitry $@#! :(]

I didn't answer your questions because they weren't relevant to the comic's point, that is to say that isolated examples in favour of one side or another do not change the underlining truth that both groups involved have acted retarded and share fault. Perhaps I'd stray more away from the rhetorical if the comic itself were not asking a rhetorical question. The cartoon does not even specify what groups we are talking about here and while we can make an educated guess the fact that it was left so vague indicates to me that it is addressing the Israel/Palestanian conflict as a whole.

Oh boy, essays! I wasn't aware you could write chemistry essays O__o. That's what I get for dropping science so early in my academic career.

More German civilians were killed than American civilians in WWII, but I would consider the war more the fault of Germany than the United States.

Clearly, body counts don't determine fault.

Date: 2006-07-17 04:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] leprofessional.livejournal.com
Nope, but you argument is faulty too because your not taking the full scope of the war, the number of individuals in total killed by the germans, versus the number of germans killed. It illustrates a picture.

By the way, way to bring in entirely different situations, so you are denying that "Israel has clerly fullfilled its role as the big dog around the neighbourhood (full military, 200 nuclear heads, constant raids, 'the wall', checkpoints, economic sanctions against the Palestanians, and so on)." Are you also denying that Israel was carved out of Palestine, and did not previously exist as a state, and therefore initiated the whole P-I conflict at the beginning? Eh, if you can't follow basic history and facts I guess I can't be of any help either.

Date: 2006-07-17 05:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ceejayoz.livejournal.com
I was addressing one point. Your argument doesn't take the full scope of the conflict into consideration, either.

Full military? Sure, when the surrounding seven nations have overwhelming superiority of numbers, one focuses on the military a little bit. Same with nuclear warheads, for which I've no objections to democracies holding. I don't see how constant raids is relevant, I oppose the wall, checkpoints are quite obviously necessary, and I've little issue with economic sanctions imposed on a group that elects Hamas as their representatives.

Israel was carved out of the British Mandate of Palestine (not a state, a territory of the British Empire) by the UN, while we're discussing "basic history".

For the record, the last time the area was independent it was Israel. Then it was part of the Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and British Empires (probably something else between Byzantine and Ottoman; Arab or Turkish?), and then Israel again. Palestine is the part that has never been a state.

Which is not to deny that Israel's actions have frequently been brutal and worthy of condemnation.

No matter who steps foot into the middle east countries, prices would go up. Tis the price we have to pay for dealing with the devil (terrorist states) for our liveblood (oil).

And either way, if Bush really is serious about this war on terror, the terrorists north of Israel would've been dealt with sooner or later with the same side effect.

Personally, my thought is, "A plague on both your houses", and let them bleed each other to a peace. (peace of the grave?)

I consider the two groups (Hamas/Hezbollah and Isreal/Zionist) to have mutually exclusive goals with no peaceful solution.

Allow me to dissertate a moment.
For good or ill, I have the idealistic view that most people want to be left alone to get on with their lives without interruption. So long as the people in power don't bug them or offend them, they'll be happy.
Then we have the zealots. They want to change the world, often breaking a few eggs to form their omlet of a happy world.
These people are, eg, President Bush & cabinet, the leaders of Hamas, the leaders of Isreal.

My thought is that "normal people" should pack up and move out of the middle-east, leaving zealots to kill each other off. Then when one side wins, we either let them wallow in their utopia or(if they go after us) we clear them out.

Sure.

Is it possible for some idiot to believe that Israel and Hizbollah are equally at fault for the current situation?

I doubt it, but I've been wrong before.
