Yeah, come on, why shouldn't the US torture people? After all, if Al Qaida can do it, we should be able to do it too. Otherwise it's not fair!

You'd be surprised what passes for torture.

heheh, funny cartoon... however, we must remember that these camps are not holding only guilty suspects. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Really?!?!?! You think?

This boils down to one essential argument. Either people believe in the rule of law, or they don't. The either believe that a fair objective standard for behavior can be reached, or they don't.

People who think that their actions are above those of others will always seek to exact their will upon those they hate... Whether it comes from terrorists, or dumbass frat fucks who listen to too much talk radio.

No, it just says the difficulty of being effective and having a standard.

Not all of the inmates are guilty. Guilty until proven innocent and torturing suspects who haven't been tried - when did these become American values?

reminds me of kindergarten...

"b-b-but he started it..."

The theory is as we get older, we start to hold ourselves to our own standards of conduct, rather than this reactionary "they do it so I can too" bullshit. Apparently you've failed to grasp this.

Also IMO, think people are reading this wrong thinking that the author is conveying the justification for the US to act like this. I think he's just trying to incite rage in people because they CAN get away with whatever they want in hopes they realize that we ARE better.

Speculation of course!

That doesn't sound to clear

It is amazing that we call al-Qaeda for the scum that they are, but instead of continuing with this condemnation and moral high ground, we then try to convince ourselves that it okay to become a bigger, badder, and more powerful al-Qaeda, that instead worships the American flag.

We can't condemn them for their actions and then do them ourselves. How difficult is that to understand?

Al-Qaeda does not follow any of the internationally accepted rules of war. Therefore, they are doing whatever they want.

PERFECT!!!! Just because the lawyer on the other side of a case is unethical gives me neither the right to be unetical nor the justification to be unetical. Why so many think this is a justification for us to be less than what we are ...They obviously hate America and everything it (should) stand for
