Okay, so instead of giving them money, where they recieve 100% of your gratitude, you'd rather buy their CDs, where they'll only recieve maybe 10% of the price of the CD, while record companies and all that crap, who have made no political stance whatsoever, recieve the majority.
I agree completely with this comment. I never buy CDs, as I can't stand the idea of my money going to support corrupt record companies who are fighting bitterly to sustain a failing business model and may well turn around and use the money I do contribute to them to sue me down the road for downloading the occasional CD.
When I find a group I like, I make a point of going to see them in concert and buying some of their merchandise, which I'm under the impression lines their pockets a little better. I'd love to be able to just mail them $20 for their efforts, if such a system were in place.
Or even more explanatory -- the Dixie Chicks have criticized Buch, which the cartoonist apparently feels is tantamount to supporting the terrorist. The Dixie Chicks have manifested this support by producing their albums in Arabic, because as we know, all terrorists speak Arabic and all Arabic-speakers are terrorists.
I think this is why the cartoon was not particularly funny -- while hyperbole is always used in cartoons to good comic effect, this cartoon's use of hyperbole was just stupid. To agree with the "message" of this cartoon you have to believe a lot of really ignorant things (the most ignorant of which is that producing a CD in the Arabic language is equivalent to supporting terrorists). I doubt that even a lot of anti-conservatives found it very funny.
This is not exactly what Conservatives think. While many are resentful over the anti-Bush comments of Natalie Maines, and have expressed this by refusing to listen to their music, I don't know anyone with the point of view expressed in this cartoon.
