Hey, I'm not defending it. I'm just pointing out what I think was the crucial difference. Is Osama had died by tripping over his bathroom scale and getting his head stuck in the toilet, I don't think anyone would have reproached Scott for shouting "hooray!"
If Thatcher had been taken out in a savage insurrection and had her head put on a pike in front of a webcam and eaten by buzzards, the number of "the witch is dead" articles would have dropped to near zero.
