Thanks for a methaphor. ^) I was just reading posts in some CF comms plus where I live one of the big news is church collecting signatures for further anti-abortion laws, so the "breeding coathangers" really got me thinking about some absurdist art someone should probably make :)
I'm in Russia. Must have chosen "Hard" on difficulty settings before the current incarnation ;) http://rt.com/politics/162196-russian-orthodox-christian-abortion-ban/
Sadly, I have no arts talent whatsoever. Can't paint and whenever I write it comes out convoluted and over-prolix. So we have to hope someone else picks that up.
They blame abortion for a dwindling population. Next on the list is Birth Control, or do they already make that hard to get? Wow.
Just my personal opinion, but I think we could do with more dwindling in the populations. Especially here in America. I don't think we are in any danger of becoming extinct. lol.
They are encroaching on the availability of some pregnancy-termination-inducing drugs (don't know what you properly call them in English basically the drugs are used for non-surgical abortion, when taken they induce miscarriage) in retail drugstores.
Otherwise, thankfully, most forms of Birth Control are quite easy to get in Russia - pills you can buy in any apothecary over the counter - no prescription needed. Prices for good ones (i.e. European or US made) are about 15-25 USD for one month set. There are no limits on sales of condoms anywhere. Sterilization OTOH is limited - you can get it only if you are over 35 or already have 3 children or have medical reasons.
I think we just refer to them as The morning after pill, but the Pro-life call them abortion pills.
It's good you have birth control so readily available. I certainly wish it was that way here.
Sterilization is kind of the same way for women here. Guys can do it any old time they like, but I had to fill out so much paperwork because i was under 30. I mean I could get it, I just had to fight to get it because my doctors were all saying I really didn't want it. Ugh.
