following this logic, can't we just give our ballots to all people of Mexico, Nicaragua and El Salvador? Let them decide what US people need. Even better if crossing the border of foreign country is a crime (at least everywhere in the world except Somalia and all Guineas), these people are criminals. So why not give voting rights back to criminals in jails/prisons? In fact let release them, at least the ones with gang affiliations, like MS-13, 14, 18?
How exactly is identifying 1 "Joe Turner" in prison and using that as an excuse to purge ALL 18,000+ Joe Turners WHO COULD LEGALLY VOTE off the voter rolls equal to handing over our ballots to foreigners in other countries??
Your logic has so many holes in it I could drive a Mac Truck through them.
Wow, I am shocked that "they" were able to purge 18000+ Joe Turners from the legal roles! Where did this happen? I wonder if it affects my cousin, and if he knows about it?
“Voting officials in 27 states, almost all of them Republicans, have launched what is threatening to become a massive purge of black, Hispanic, and Asian-American voters. Already, tens of thousands have been removed from voter rolls in battleground states, and the numbers are set to climb.”
Specifically, officials have a master list of 6.9 million suspected “potential double voters.” And in Virginia, Georgia, and Washington the lists are “heavily over-weighted with names such as Jackson, Garcia, Patel, and Kim,” all common to Democratic-leaning minority groups.
The process for checking those names, a computer program called Crosscheck—touted by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a vocal supporter for voter identification—is incredibly inaccurate. “The actual lists,” notes Al Jazeera America, “show that not only are middle names mismatched, and suffix discrepancies ignored, even conflicting birthdates are disregarded. Moreover, Crosscheck deliberately ignores any Social Security mismatches, in the few instances when the numbers are even collected.”
I actually read the link, and I wasn't too impressed with the documentation.
It's willful ignorance like this that causes me to disrespect most Republicans and conservatives.
I mean, here we are - here is a company whose product is so shoddily designed that its application is likely over-purging voter rolls of perfectly legitimate voters, imposing upon them burdens that their local election laws may or may not give them a means of overcoming in time to have their votes count. The Al Jazeera piece lays out how this all happens quite clearly. This directly impacts the sanctity of our elections. And your response is just to say you're not "too impressed?"
Well, I'm not "too impressed" by your cavalier attitude and implicit approval towards the issue. Anyone who cares about voter fraud should care about this, for exactly the same kinds of reasons. If you're going to choose not to care about it while caring about voter fraud, you're just being intellectually dishonest, and you're a scourge on our democracy.

Did you read the article? Personally I wouldn't accept the claims if they were made by FOX without some documentation. How it COULD HAPPEN. it also claims it did happen, but with no evidence of where or when.
I forgot, where was it I cared about voter fraud so much that now I'm being intellectually dishonest?
I'm trying to make myself care that I don't impress you, but I just can't.
Did you read the article? Personally I wouldn't accept the claims if they were made by FOX without some documentation.
What, exactly, is lacking? The article states that multiple states are using Crosscheck as part of their voter-roll scrubs; they have removed several thousands of voters already under their processes; they've determined that the core of the Crosscheck screening is a list of suspect "duplicate voters" whose names roughly match those of other registered voters. We can probably describe a few more elements that would help form a "smoking gun" here, but even given what's reported, isn't there enough to be at least concerned?
I forgot, where was it I cared about voter fraud so much that now I'm being intellectually dishonest?
Here's a good example of intellectual dishonesty. If you didn't care about voter fraud, you could have said, "Actually, I don't think voter fraud is enough of an issue to merit the kinds of anti-fraud measures that have been pushed around the country," or you could have said, "Actually, I think that most of these anti-fraud measures go too far, as well; I'm just commenting on what Al Jazeera has reported." But instead you're playing the, "You can't pin it on me, kid" game, which is tiresome and evasive. If you want to participate in a discussion of a political nature, you need to take responsibility for having political beliefs and taking political positions, instead of equivocating on what you actually think, using the ambiguity as a way to score points rather than further discussion.
I'm trying to make myself care that I don't impress you, but I just can't.
Given how much the outcome of US elections affects people in those countries they probably should get a vote :P This election is probably more important to my daily life than the one I actually get to vote in in a few weeks.
Well, these countries need to develop plan B, asap. Yesterday I fell asleep in blue and woke up in red state and it felt just like any other morning, except people around got that righteous look. What's with other elections? Just curious.
Because voter suppression IS a thing, and it's a thing that we should ALL care about:

Well...when folk in the U.S. finally get to realise that in terms of voter suppression they are catching up with...er....even China ensures it's electorate can vote, just not for anyone except those candidates whom the Party decides are acceptable....
Very well-played GOP. Look what you've done to America.

The poor kid down the street who works minimum wage and is having to survive on it may not have id that counts for voter id laws.
(You can use an expired drivers license for proof of id to work, but not to vote)

For the record, while jom_art seem to be using hyperbole, I was using sarcasm...altho I actually have a cousin named Joe Turner
